The Baku European Games Operation Committee signed an agreement on broadcasting the European Games in Croatia on May 27.
The first free TV channel "Sportska Televizija" (SPTV) will broadcast the first European Games to be held in Baku on June 12-28, ten hours a day. The channel was established by the National Olympic Committee of Croatia in 2011.
SPTV Channel will broadcast the opening and closing ceremonies of the games and also cover the competitions with Croatian athletes.
“Baku 2015 European Games are extremely important for European sport,” Simon Clegg, Baku 2015 Chief Operating Officer, said.
"Therefore, we have thoroughly worked for all spectators of the continent and the world to be able to watch the competitions,” he said. “While supporting its athletes, the Croatian audience will be able to participate in the games in absentia due to an agreement signed with the SPTV."
“Baku will host the competitions on 20 kinds of sports, most of which have aroused great interest among the Croatian audience,” Jura Ozmec, SPTV editor-in-chief, said.
He said that Croatia will be represented in 18 kinds of sports.
"We are confident that it will be among the countries competing for medals in all these kinds of sports,” he said.
Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
