Seven people preparing terrorist attacks on a number of strategic facilities of the province were detained in the Turkish province of Izmir in the southwest of the country, the Turkish Anadolu news agency reported July 3.
The detainees are citizens of Turkey.
They actively participated in the activity of armed groups in Syria and fought on the side of the Islamic State (IS) militants.
The IS announced the establishment of an "Islamic caliphate" in its controlled areas in Iraq and Syria in late June 2014.
Iraqi authorities appealed to the international community for help to combat this terrorist organization.
