The Government of Azerbaijan is making significant efforts for the elimination of trafficking, the US Department of State’s annual report on human trafficking in the world said.

During the reporting period, the government increased the number of trafficking investigations and convictions, enacted a new national action plan, and introduced new legislation to provide reintegration assistance to vulnerable populations, especially children released from correctional facilities, orphanages, and state-run boarding schools, the report said.

The government increased law enforcement efforts, the report said.

An annual report of the US Department of State analyzes the efforts of 188 countries to comply with the minimum standards necessary to eliminate the trafficking of adults and children.

The report distributes the efforts of each country according to the Tier system: Tier 1 – a country corresponding to the criteria; Tier 3 - the lowest rate; Tier 2 - the most non-permanent category, because it includes the countries of a list of the US Department of State taking enough measures to combat trafficking.
