The 47th International Chemistry Olympiad, organized by Baku branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University, wrapped up in Baku.
The event was attended by nearly 300 delegates from 75 countries, including more than 250 scientists, chemical experts, observers, team leaders, Azerbaijani state and government officials, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in the country.
The closing ceremony of the Olympiad was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
Chair of the Scientific Committee of the Olympiad, professor Fikrat Guliyev highlighted the results of the Olympiad. He said: "The 47th International Chemistry Olympiad, which was organized by Baku branch of Moscow State University in partnership with the ministries of Education and Youth and Sport, SOCAR and Heydar Aliyev Center, has been a success story."
Chair of the Steering Committee of the Olympiad, professor at Sogang University, Republic of Korea, Duckhwan Lee hailed the organization of the Olympiad as excellent. “This is the best Olympiad I have ever attended,” said Lee, thanking all those who contributed to the event, especially rector of Baku Branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University, corresponding member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Nargiz Pashayeva.
The event then featured a ceremony to award the winners of the Olympiad, including Azerbaijani students Sergey Styopin and Huseyn Babayev who grabbed bronze medals.
Rector of Baku Branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University, corresponding member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, president of the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad Nargiz Pashayeva made closing remarks. She expressed gratitude to the organizing committee, steering committee, scientists, teachers, mentors and foreign delegates for their contribution to the organization of the event and for coming to Baku.
Professor Nargiz Pashayeva declared the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad closed.
The flag of the Olympiad was passed to Pakistan that will host the next edition of the event.
