Iran has unveiled a comprehensive plan for boosting nonoil exports in a stage-by-stage fashion, targeting exports worth $145 billion in ten years.
Iran’s export of goods should reach $115 billion by 2025, Deputy Minister of Industry Valiollah Afkhami Rad said, Mehr news agency reported August 28.
For the next Iranian-calendar year (to start March 20), Iran’s nonoil export should hit $58 billion, he added.
Last year, Iran’s export hit $49.7 billion. The Industry Ministry’s comprehensive plan asserts that nonoil exports should reach $81 billion by 2020.
Last year, Iran’s mineral export hit $1.5 billion and it is expected to reach $2.5 billion by the end of next Iranian year, $3.5 billion by 2020, and $6 billion by 2025.
Also, agricultural export stood at $4.6 billion last year. It is to reach $6 billion by the end of next Iranian year, $8 billion by 2020, and $12 billion by 2025.
Rad said the plan envisions increasing expert engineering service export to $17 billion by the end of next Iranian fiscal year.
The number is to hit $23 billion by 2020 and $35 billion by 2025.
Head of Iran's Business Development Organization Valiollah Afkhami said in April that in the last Iranian fiscal year, the country’s engineering service, tourism, and transit export hit $12.5 billion.
“Add that to nonoil goods’ export and we will have a total of $62 billion,” he said.
He hoped that in the current Iranian fiscal year, non-oil export will grow by 25 percent to reach $65 billion.
Iran’s trade turnover during the previous Iranian fiscal year (which ended March 20) surpassed $150 billion.
