The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has started to implement the program "Cochlear implantation" in Azerbaijan. The program, initiated by the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, involves a group of local and foreign specialists.
Since August 2015 the group has conducted free check-ups of more than 250 children with hearing disorders. The results revealed a necessity to conduct cochlear implant surgery to 80 children. Some 70 children need a hearing aid, according to examination results.
According to the executive director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov, 26 people underwent surgery. “They will get rehabilitative treatment with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.” Mr Alakbarov said most of the operated are children under six.
