Spain's World Cup winning coach Vicente del Bosque believes the influx of foreign players into the Premier League has eradicated any idea of an English football "identity". He said 'There is no English football any more, no authentic style'.
According to the Guardian, as the Premier League has grown into arguably the biggest league in the world over the last 20 years the England national team has failed to match that success, with it now almost 50 years since the Three Lions won a major international tournament. And Del Bosque, who guided Spain to World Cup victory in 2010 and European Championship success two years later, believes the importing of overseas talent and expertise into England's domestic leagues has had a detrimental effect on the national side.
