Persons taking any radical steps in Azerbaijan under guise of religion will be punished, says Ziyafet Asgarov, the first deputy speaker of Azerbaijani parliament.
Speaking to reporters Nov. 12, Asgarov said some states and organizations envy the tolerance and socio-political stability existing in Azerbaijan.
“Azerbaijan is a tolerant state, where members of various religious faiths coexist peacefully. We are against any kind of radicalism,” noted Asgarov.
He further said Azerbaijan has well-established religious traditions, and the people of Azerbaijan are committed to those traditions.
Asgarov further said Azerbaijani state will not allow the destabilization of situation in the country.
