The Energy Watch Group, the international network of scientists and parliamentarians, offers Azerbaijan to consider an opportunity of reducing the domestic oil and gas consumption through the development of solar, wind and biogas energy.
“Many consumers are switching to alternative energy, particularly, due to the changes in the global climate,” Hans-Josef Fell, the president of the Energy Watch Group, established in 2006, told Trend Nov. 25.
Fell is also a former member of the German Bundestag.
“An upward trend of transferring the investments from the traditional energy in favor of the alternative energy is observed in the world,” he said. “Azerbaijan could also invest the revenues from the hydrocarbon export to the active development of alternative energy.”
The investments in Azerbaijan’s alternative energy development exceeded 63 million manat in 2014, of which almost 35 million accounted for the development of solar energy.
