By Ilhama Isabalayeva – Trend:

Bahar Muradova, the Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, urged citizens not to forget that they live in a secular state.

Muradova was commenting on the events in Nardaran settlement.

“Our citizens should be able to live according to the national customs, traditions and values of a modern country,” she told reporters Nov. 30. "This is the task of each of us."

Earlier, four members of a criminal group, operating under the guise of religion, were killed in a police special operation in the Nardaran township, located 25 km north of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

Two police officers were also killed.

Fourteen members of the criminal group were arrested in the special operation along with the group’s head Tale Baghirov.

"All Azerbaijani citizens are required to act within the law, regardless of their religious, political and ethnic origin," Muradova said.
