The rally of the “New Armenia” Public Salvation Front, struggling against holding a constitutional referendum in the country, has kicked off in Yerevan’s Liberty Square, the Armenian News agency reported.

Prior to the march, Head of the “United Opposition Headquarters” Jirayr Sefilian ordered to install a tent in the square. The police took away the tents, this ending up with a scuffle between the police and the protestors.

The protestors aren’t informing about the route of the march and are at the moment walking across the central Mashtots Avenue, according to the agency.

The referendum on constitutional amendments will take place on December 6. Pursuant to the new draft Constitution, the country will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance.
