Around 150 Turkish troops have been deployed to northern Iraq to replace its current unit, Turkish military sources told Anadolu Agency Friday.

The troops were sent by road to Bashiqa town in Mosul district, the sources told AA on condition of anonymity.

Turkish soldiers in Mosul region were sent to the region two-and-a-half years ago in order to train Iraqi Peshmerga forces.

Along with the troops, 20 to 25 tanks were also dispatched to the area, the sources added.
