Iran is ready to assist in extinguishing the fire on the platform No10, located at the Guneshli offshore field, as well as in searching for missing people, Mohsen Pak Ayin, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, told Trend Dec. 6.
"I express condolences to the Azerbaijani people, families and friends of those died in the tragedy at the Guneshli offshore field and wish a speedy recovery to those injured," the diplomat said.
The ignition started on Dec.4 at the platform No.10 of this field, where the Azerbaijani SOCAR company produces oil and gas through its own funds.
SOCAR said that the fire at the platform was caused by the windstorm, which damaged a gas line.
Some 32 people have been rescued, while 30 people are considered missing.
