Tehran, Iran, December 6
By Mehdi Sepahvand –- Trend:
Not only have the US and that resembling the Western bloc left Russia, China, and other Eastern countries with no footage in their area, they have wrought chaos by entering Iraq, Libya, etc., Iranian university professor and political analyst Ahmad Naqibzadeh said.
By such situations as they created after toppling Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi, Western powers made the environment increasingly insecure for all sorts of investment and development in these areas, Naqibzadeh told Trend December 6.
The fact that Iran is hopeful about Eastern powers to join the ongoing fight on terrorism comes from the countries’ growing concern about security in their regions, he added.
A day earlier, Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said he was hopeful that big powers like Russia and China will soon join “the resistance axis”.
The term axis of resistance commonly refers to an anti-Israel and anti-Western alliance between Iran, Syria, the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. The Iran-led alliance aims to oppose Western, namely United States and Israel, interests in the region.
While calling the current situations in Syria a small world war, Velayati said that Russia is unable to secure its interests in the Middle East.
This is why Russia, China, and others, as well as Iran with its special motivations, are taking action against the situation, Naqibzadeh stated.
Iran and Russia have taken actions against the terrorist movements that have been having hold over Syria for the past five years. Moscow and Tehran say that the terrorists are backed by Western powers and are by no means self-motivated local movements.
