By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:

In response to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's comments, a high-ranking Iranian government official said Erdogan hasn't threatened Iran.

"Even others bigger than Erdogan did not dare threaten Iran", the country’s government spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said, Press TV reported December 8.

“If Erdogan has pretended to be threatening Iran, he should know that the Iranian foreign minister told (someone) bigger than him never to threaten Iran,” Nobakht stressed.

Erdogan recently claimed he had warned Iranian President Hassan Rouhani that if the Islamic Republic continues to mention Ankara’s link with the IS terrorist organization (aka ISIL, ISIS, or Daesh) oil trade, Iran would have to bear some bitter consequences.

The Turkish president went on to say that after his threats, Iran stopped to raise the topic.

Nobakht said that Erdogan and Rouhani had a phone conversation in August, not recently.

Recently, Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaee said the country is in possession of pictures and videos that show how the IS sells oil to Turkey.

On December 2, the Russian Defense Ministry published pictures of the IS transferring over 200 thousand barrels of oil from Syria and Iraq to Turkey. Moreover, Moscow has severely criticized Erdogan and his family for smuggling Iraqi and Syrian oil.
