Russia doesn’t intend to deploy additional airbases in the territory of Syria, as there is no need for that, according to Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for Russia’s Defense Ministry.
Russian news agency TASS reported that Konashenkov made the remarks commenting on some media reports on the issue.
“It doesn’t take to be a profound military expert to understand that any Russian aircraft needs just 30-40 minutes to get to any point on Syria’s territory from the Hmeimim airbase,” he said.
“Therefore there is no operational need in deploying additional Russian airbases on Syria’s territory,” he added.
