Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 9

By Khalid Kazimov – Trend:

Finnish multinational communications and information technology company, Nokia Corporation, has expressed its interest in resuming its activity in Iran after the removal of international sanctions.

“We are excited about reestablishing and building relationships with our customers in the country, and contributing telecommunication solutions for the people of Iran,” Reija Sihlman, a media relations official at Nokia Corporation, told Trend Dec. 9.

The official added that the corporation sees ongoing opportunity in the region, particularly in Iran, following the latest news about the future relief of trade sanctions.

Meanwhile, following a meeting with Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland Lenita Toivakka, Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi welcomed Nokia to enter the country’s ICT market.

“Iran can develop its ICT sector through cooperation with Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent,” Minister Vaezi said.

Iran expects the international sanctions imposed by the West on its financial and industrial sectors to be lifted in early 2016, as it is adhering to the terms of a milestone nuclear accord inked between Tehran and the world powers in July.
