Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 18

By Elena Kosolapova – Trend:

Kazakhstan didn’t propose to dissolve the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and didn’t send any documents with such proposals to member countries of the CIS, head of the press service of the Kazakh foreign ministry Anuar Zhaynakov told Trend Dec.18.

Today, Dec.18, some media reported that Kazakhstan has officially proposed to dissolve the CIS and that the relevant circular letter has been already sent to other member states of the CIS.

“The matter probably rests in a statement October 16 during a meeting of the Heads of State Council of the CIS in Kazakhstan,” said Zhaynakov. “Then president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev spoke with an initiative about the transformation of the statutory bodies of the CIS. The dissolution of the CIS was not discussed.”
