A solo exhibition of famous British sculptor Richard Deacon entitled “On the Other Side” has opened at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center Anar Alakbarov made a speech at the opening ceremony, and thanked Richard Deacon and Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva for organizing the exhibition.
Rector of the Baku Academy of Arts Omar Eldarov also addressed the event.
Sculptor Richard Deacon thanked Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-President of the Foundation Leyla Aliyeva for organizing the exhibition.
The exhibition features 39 works of the artist.
Monumental, relatively small works made from wood, metal and ceramics as well as organic examples and accurately trimmed constructions will be on display.
Richard Deacon was born in Bangor, Wales in 1949 and lives and works in London. He won the Turner Prize in 1987.
