Portuguese Sporting won a bronze medal in the Judo Golden League in the Austrian capital of Vienna. Despite what was a historic performance in Europe's premier judo competition, Sporting will be feeling a bit hard done by after tough semi-final.
In the encounter deciding the bronze, Pedro Soares' outfit claimed the win in just three bouts, with Sergiu Oleinic beating Stefan Kudera in the 66kg category, Azerbaijan`s Rustam Orujov beating Christopher Wagner in the 73kg competition and Anri Egutidze beating Marcel Ott in the 81kg competition.
Sporting missed out by the narrowest of margins in the semi-finals, missing out 3-2 to Fighter Tbilisi after winning the first two bouts.
