Tehran, Iran, December 22

By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:

The Ministry of Intelligence should enact the law in qualifying the electoral candidates, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said.

Speaking in a meeting with officials of the ministry, Rouhani urged all-out efforts to boost Iran’s security, IRNA reported December 22.

The Ministry of Intelligence should make sure that no political side forces its will on people, he said.

Rouhani’s remarks come in anticipation of Parliament and Assembly of Experts elections which are to be held on February 26.

People have started signing up as candidates to run for seats in the two bodies, awaiting qualification by the Ministry of Intelligence and other related organizations.

President Rouhani also said that extremism has never succeeded in creating the desirable atmosphere, while moderation is the path hinted to by Islam.

He also said Iran’s security is exemplary in the restive Middle East region, adding that Iran's fight against terrorism has helped a lot of countries in the sphere.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Rouhani said the removal of international restrictions over Iran’s nuclear program is a great victory and source of pride for the Islamic Republic.

On July 14, Iran succeeded in wringing a deal out of nuclear talks with six world powers that would end economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic. The deal is going to be implemented in one month, according to Iranian officials.
