Iran will buy 10 airplanes by March 20, 2016, Deputy Head of Iran Aviation Organization Mohammad Khodakarami said.
He added the airplanes' average age will be 11 years, ISNA reported December 28.
Khodakarami made the announcement in a ceremony of unveiling new air maps developed by Iranian engineers.
The official also commented on Iran’s purchase of Tupolev and Sukhoi aircraft, saying he didn't know about the Iranian airlines' request for the mentioned aircraft.
Iran’s aviation system went decrepit under heavy sanctions, as the country's aged air fleet is hardly acceptable for any flights. Air crashes happen in Iran every year as the country is using airplanes with average ages of 25 years.
Iran says it plans to import some 500 airplanes in five years after the sanctions are removed.
