At least 2,000 trucks, which ran out of fuel, have been stuck in snow for three days in the Gurbulak – Bazargan border checkpoint inside Turkey, an Iranian official said.

A 50-kilometer long line of trucks has been formed at the border point, Amir Abbas Jafari, the director general of Emergency Management Office in Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province said, Mehr news agency reported Jan. 5.

He further said that some 500 Iranian trucks, as well as 1500 Turkish trucks have been waiting for fuel and relief aid for three days, in order to be able to cross the border into Iran.

“Some 10,000 liters of fuel has been prepared for Iranian trucks,” Jafari said, adding the fuel consignment will be sent to Turkish side as soon as the needed permissions are issued.

He forecasted that the problem will be settled within the next 48 hours.
