The new 113th chemical element in the Dmitry Mendeleyev table will be called Japanium, or Japan. The name of the new item in the present time are fighting groups of scientists from Russia, USA and Japan, Russia’s TASS Agency reported.
For the authorship of the opening of the 113th chemical element fighting two teams: the Russian-American and Japanese. First announced the synthesis of element in 2003, after experiments at the Joint Institute for nuclear research in Dubna.
The second team representing scientists from the Japanese Institute of Natural Sciences, published their data in 2004, 2005 and 2012. The decision to open and the name must take the international Union of pure and applied chemistry.
The joint Commission of the International Union of pure and applied chemistry and International Union of pure and applied physics leans toward the priority of Japanese scientists, because, in her opinion, data synthesis 2003 year, presented by the Russian-American team, is questionable.
Japanese scientists received the 113th element, by colliding the nuclei of zinc and bismuth. Russian-American team has received a 113-th element as a by-product of the reaction in the synthesis of the 115th element.
The final decision to open and name a new chemical element should be known in January 2016 after the meeting of the International Union of pure and applied chemistry.
In nature, as a rule, are the chemical elements with atomic number (number of protons in the nucleus) is not greater than 92 (uranium). Elements by number of protons from 93 to 100 can be obtained in the reactors above 100 by particle accelerators.
