Tehran, Iran, Jan. 12
By Khalid Kazimov – Trend:
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has assured that his country is committed to implementation of the nuclear deal (aka the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action/JCPOA) reached between Tehran and the world’s major powers in July 2015.
“If the P5+1 group [China, France, Russia, the UK, the US plus Germany] meets its commitments regarding the nuclear deal, the Islamic Republic of Iran will also fulfil its commitments seriously on the implementation of the JCPOA,” Rouhani said at a meeting with the German ex-chancellor Gerhard Schroeder in Tehran, IRIB news agency reported Jan. 12.
President Rouhani further called for the expansion of bilateral ties between Iran and Germany in economic and industrial sectors, including car manufacturing, energy and transportation after the removal of sanctions.
Calling for serious fight against terrorism, he urged Germany to join efforts with Iran in resolving political problems and the regional tensions.
Gerhard Schroeder too called for the expansion of bilateral ties.
Earlier on Jan. 11, Schroeder met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Shamkhani, as well as several ministers.
Heading a trade delegation, Schroeder arrived in Tehran on Jan. 11 for a three-day visit ahead of the expected implementation of the nuclear deal, under which the international sanctions against the Islamic Republic will be removed.
