Armenian armed units violated ceasefire with Azerbaijan 42 times throughout the day (22 February 2017 11:46)

Armenian armed forces broke ceasefire with Azerbaijan 100 times on various parts of the contact line between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops over the past 24 hours, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry told Trend Jan. 16.
Azerbaijani positions located in the village of Kohnegishlag of the Aghstafa district, and on the nameless heights of the Gazakh district underwent fire from the positions located in the village of Paravakar and from the positions located on the nameless heights of Armenia’s Ijevan district.
Azerbaijani positions also underwent fire from the positions located near the villages of Talish, Gulustan of the Goranboy district, Goyarkh, Chilaburt of the Terter district, Shikhlar, Novruzlu, Javahirli, Kangarli, Sarijali, Shuraabad, Yusifjanli, Marzili, Garagashli of the Aghdam district, Kuropatkino of the Khojavand district, Horadiz, Garakhanbeyli, Gorgan, Ashagi Seyidahmadli of the Fizuli district and Mehdili of the Jabrayil district.
Armenians also violated ceasefire from the positions located on nameless heights in the Goygol, Goranboy, Khojavand, Fizuli and Jabrayil districts.
Azerbaijani armed forces inflicted 105 strikes on enemy positions.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
