Facebook Messenger may soon introduce Snapchat's self-destructing message feature, according to a screenshot shared by Twitter user iOSAppChanges.
Based on the photo shared, Facebook Messenger's iOS version 68.0 was spotted with limited time messages on a chat window.
"You turned on disappearing messages. New messages will disappear from this conversation 15 minutes after being sent," as per the Messenger's chat window screenshot.

Moreover, a separate screenshot further revealed that users are given options if messages should disappear after a minute, 15 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, 1 day and never, the Gadgets 360 reported. Some also unveiled booking a ride and sharing links options. However, full specific details are to be revealed yet.
Although the latest version of the app is already available for download, users said that the new functionalities cannot be used yet. Even the App Store did not mention of such updates. Gadgets 360 speculated this is most likely because Facebook is still conducting a feasibility study to a select group of users or the updates are being released slowly.
This is not the first time Facebook tested such messaging system though. In 2014, the company rolled out its ephemeral messaging app but was later pulled out in 2016. It also shut down its Creative Lab division, which is behind the apps Slingshot, Riff and Rooms. Facebook also took down three apps from the Play Store, Firstpost reported.
Meanwhile, there are still a number of updates to watch out for, The Wall Street Journal reported. For instance, Facebook allegedly plans of rolling out a "secret conversations" feature that is designed with an end-to-end encryption similar to WhatsApp; a stand-alone camera app, which is currently on its early stage of development; and a live streaming feature.
Just last month, Facebook Messenger introduced a group call feature, allowing its users to make group conversation just a tap away.
