Baku  hosts  meeting of Board of Trustees of UPU Quality of Service Fund

The meeting of Board of Trustees (BoT)  of UPU Quality of Service Fund (QSF)  is being held in Baku.The meeting is organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU)  with the support of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies (MCHT).
 
Welcoming the participants on behalf of the Ministry of Communications and High  Technologies,  head of the postal sector of MCHT Novruz Mammadov informed  about the reforms  carried out and projects implemented in our country for the development of postal  service and improving the quality of service,  postal legislation and other issues.
 
It was reported that 8 projects have been implemented so far in collaboration with the Universal Postal Union. These projects include purchase of  vehicles for mail transportation, various types of  scanners, printers, tracking equipment and  their commissioning in the postal network.
 
At the meeting, relevant recommendations  were put forward on behalf of the RCC Postal Communications Commission and Postal Communication Operators. It was noted the projects implemented by QSF are particularly contributing  to the developing countries,  and it was emphasized the need to  further continue the  projects.
 
In turn,  speaking about  XXVI Universal Postal Congress to be held in Istanbul, Turkey on 20 September -7 October, Chairman of the QSF Board of Trustees Isabel Tavares said the QSF’s future activities will be discussed at that congress.
 
Ms. Tavares expressed confidence that the Quality of Service Fund will continue its work more actively in the coming years and in a positive direction. 
 
Note that the meeting to be run three days  is being held  in Azerbaijan for the first time.
 
Projects submitted to the UPU  to improve the quality of postal services in the world countries  are reviewed  at UPU Board of Trustees which represents all geographic regions of the world consisting of representatives in  9 countries all over the world, after discussions are approved, and control on their implementation is carried out, relevant evaluation is done according to the results of the execution.
 
Azerbaijan is one of the 9 countries (USA, Australia, Portugal, Switzerland, Egypt, India, Nigeria, Chile). Azerbaijan at the board represents Eastern Europe and Northern Asia.
 
As a member of this important body, Azerbaijan has  great opportunities for preparation of  a number of important projects and funding  for the national mail.
