Los Angeles, July 26 AZERTAC
An event on Azerbaijani classic music was held at Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Los Angeles.
Consul General to Los Angeles Nasimi Aghayev highlighted the history of opera in the country.
Mr. Agayev stressed the importance of popularizing Azerbaijani music in the US and spoke of the successful the US premieres of Azerbaijani composers works in Los Angeles and in San Diego
The Consul General also provided an insight into the progress achieved by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation under the leadership of first Lady Mehriban Aliyeva in preserving and promoting the Azerbaijani musical traditions in the world.
Mr. Aghayev mentioned Azerbaijan’s traditional music mugham, which has been recognized by UNESCO as Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The participants received various publications on Azerbaijan, as well as CDs of classical music.
