Azerbaijan-Korea Cooperation Forum on Public Administration held in Baku on August 19. The Forum was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Korea Hong Yoon-sik, Korean Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kim Chang-gyu, Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Inam Karimov, Director of the Data Processing Center of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies Elnar Asadov and other authorized representatives.
Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Inam Karimov opened the forum with introductory speech. Highlighting the successful operation of the portal Electronic government, Inam Karimov said that with the expansion of the scope of e-services the use factor of the portal is increasing as well. According to him, it is no coincidence that having improved its previous position in the UN E-Government Development Survey, Azerbaijan has moved up from 68th to 56th position in the “E-Government Index” and from 77th to 47th - in the “E-Participation Index”.
Speaking at the event, Korean Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kim Chang-gyu said Azerbaijan has created one of the developed e-government systems and work done in this area differs from other countries of the former USSR. According to the diplomat, steps are being taken in Azerbaijan at the highest level for the implementation of this system in the world under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
Then, the coordinator of the portal Electronic Government Jamshid Nakhchivanski delivered presentation on the e-government system. The speaker provided participants with information on the development stages of the portal, statistic data, targets and future plans.
A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of e-government and the provision of public services was signed at the event between the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Korea.
