Chile-based Cambio 21 newspaper has published an article by professor of Andres Bello University, well known journalist Marcos Borcoski Páez, who attended the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum recently held in Baku. Headlined "Azerbaijan marks 25th anniversary of the restoration of its independence", the article highlights the history of Azerbaijan`s independence.
The journalist says: "I had a long journey, more than 20 hours from Santiago to Azerbaijan's capital city Baku in late September this year and attended the International Humanitarian Forum. I was able to learn a little more about Azerbaijan. I was told about the country, about capital Baku and its friendly inhabitants still in Chile. Of course, you can say that while living abroad everyone describes its country as a beautiful one, but I can say that those what were spoken about both Baku and Azerbaijanis is the truth, the truth with full meaning. Baku is a beautiful, modern and bright city. I learned different issues during the forum and shared views with famous scientists, professors, mathematicians, Nobel prize winners from a variety of fields and of course with journalists from the United States, Europe and Asia. However, the most important experience for me was to know the Azerbaijanis."
"Azerbaijanis are extra ordinary and really magnificent people. I wanted to write this article, because these days the Azerbaijani people mark a holiday and this holiday is of great importance for its date. Azerbaijan marks the 25th anniversary of the restoration of its independence. This date is of crucial importance for the Azerbaijanis," the article says.
The article also highlights the history of Azerbaijan and its people's constant desire to be independent and have an independent state.
Marcos Borcoski hails Azerbaijan's national traditions, culture and its contributions to world cultural heritage.
The article also highlights the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying despite heavy consequences of the dispute the country's economic development was hailed by leading international organizations.
The article also highlights Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines and other large scale strategic energy projects aimed at transporting energy resources from Azerbaijan to world markets and ensuring Europe's energy security.
The article concludes with journalist's words: "I gave you some information about Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is a country for Chile to be located on the other side of the world. But I felt at home in Azerbaijan for the warm, pleasant and friendly attitude to me when I was there for a short period of time. You know? To get to know such a country, to travel to a city like Baku and share it with people really turns into an endless journey. Who knows maybe one day I could be able to return to Azerbaijan?"
