“Azerbaijan will never allow the creation of the second Armenian state on its territory,” Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Bahar Muradova has told journalists as she commented on a statement by the Armenian President.
Muradova emphasized that Azerbaijan’s position on the issue is unequivocal. “Azerbaijan will not concede even an inch of its soil. Serzh Sargsyan’s statement is nothing but his sweet dream. The world community will never allow the annexation of Azerbaijan`s territory to Armenia or declaration of its independence. Azerbaijan is combating these principles, but Armenia built its position on these principles. If Sargsyan makes such a statement, he retreats from negotiations because negotiations are held within the frameworks of territorial integrity of countries and inviolability of their borders. What Sargsyan says contradicts the essence of negotiations. Taking into account the forthcoming meeting of foreign ministers and preparations for the next meeting of presidents, such statement signals a preliminary refusal from the meeting.”
“The April events proved which side is more powerful. If Armenia continues to participate in negotiations relying on the military potential of countries in the Commonwealth, this will lead to Armenia’s defeat. The present state of Armenia’s economy, social situation and miserable conditions of the army manifested themselves during the April combats. Statements of Armenian human rights activists made in Azerbaijan prove that Armenian public is unsatisfied with the adventure of the political leadership and blames namely Sargsyan regime for its problems,” she added.
