Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov has met with a delegation led by Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology, co-chairman of Azerbaijan-Iran Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Mahmoud Vaezi.
Vasif Talibov highlighted Iran-Nakhchivan relationship, saying its history spanned more than 40 years.
He hailed national leader Heydar Aliyev's contribution to the development of Iran-Nakhchivan relations during his chairmanship of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. He said important measures were also taken to ensure the development of Iran-Azerbaijan bilateral ties during the tenure of national leader Heydar Aliyev. "These relations are beneficial for both sides. Azerbaijan-Iran Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation also contributes to the development of bilateral ties between the two countries. The Commission's final meeting that took place in Nakhchivan and the signing of a protocol is of pivotal importance," Vasif Talibov said.
The chairman of the Supreme Assembly hailed the development of Nakhchivan-Iran relations in scientific, educational, energy, economic and trade fields, underlining the efficient functioning of customs and border crossing points. He lauded the launch of Nakhchivan-Tabriz-Tehran-Mashhad passenger train.
Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology Mahmoud Vaezi remembered his visit to Nakhchivan 18 years ago and his meetings with national leader Heydar Aliyev here in 1990s. He praised the ongoing development of the Autonomous Republic. He said Iran attaches great importance to the development of relations with Azerbaijan and its Autonomous Republic.
"Holding the final meting of Azerbaijan-Iran Intergovernmemtal Commission on Economic Cooperation and Azerbaijan-Iran Business Forum in Nakhchivan, and the launch of Nakhchivan-Tabriz-Tehran-Mashhad passenger train is of crucial importance in terms of the development of bilateral relations," Vaezi said.
