Baku, January 14, AZERTAC

“Line pipes continue to arrive to Kavala, Thessaloniki and Alexandroupoli. So far, approximately 60% of the 32,000 line pipes needed to build the 550km Greek section have been delivered,” TAP Head of Communications Lisa Givert told AZERTAC.

TAP is a part of the Southern Gas Corridor which is one of the priority energy projects for the EU.

TAP project envisages transportation of gas from the Stage 2 of development of Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz gas and condensate field to the EU countries.

The 870-kilometer pipeline will be connected to the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) on the Turkish-Greek border, run through Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Italy's south. With first gas sales to Georgia and Turkey targeted for late 2018, first deliveries to Europe will follow approximately in early 2020.

The project's shareholding is comprised of BP, SOCAR, Snam, Fluxys, Enagas and Axpo.
