Baku, January 29 AZERTAC

A missing boat carrying 28 Chinese tourists has been found sunken off the coast of Borneo, China’s consulate general’s office in Kota Kinabalu said Sunday. Multiple survivors were reported drifting at sea waiting for rescue.

The Chinese consulate in Kota Kinabalu said multiple survivors “were reported drifting at sea waiting for rescue,” the official Xinhua News Agency reported.

The boat left Tanjung Aru in Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Malaysia’s eastern Sabah state, at about 9am on Saturday bound for the popular tourist spot of Mengalum island, some 60 kilometres west, officials said.

Bad weather was hampering the search effort, which covers an area of about 400 nautical square miles.
