Touching the military-political situation in the region, H. Hasanov spoke about the occupation of Azerbaijani territories as a result of Armenia’s military aggression and the problems of over a million refugees and internally displaced persons. Azerbaijani Defense Minister said that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the main threat to stability in the region
General Hossein Dehghan stressed that relations between the two countries are based on long history, sincere friendship traditions. Noting the two countries have great potential for cooperation in the political, economic, cultural, military and other fields Iranian Defense Minister said that Iran supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and its fair position on the settlement of the conflict
The sides also exchanged views on the prospects of relations between the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Iran as well as discussed issues of mutual interest. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayin also attended the meeting.
