Baku-APA. A road accident has claimed lives of at least seven Pakistani children from the same family in the central Punjab province, officials and local residents say, APA reports quoting Press TV.

The causalities came after a speeding truck smashed into the single-roomed mud home of a laborer near Jhang District around midnight on Wednesday.

Sources say the vehicle lost control and crashed into the Laborer’s house with such force that resulted in the collapse of the poorly-built house.

Tariq Saeed, district emergency officer confirmed on Thursday that rescuers have recovered seven bodies from the site of the collapsed building

"The dead include five girls and two boys,” media outlets quoted Saeed as saying.

The official noted that the parents and two of the children survived with injuries.

Local residents and witnesses earlier said Muhammad Ramzan, 35, the owner of the house, was asleep along with his wife and nine children when the deadly accident happened.

Meanwhile, police officials say they have arrested the truck driver and his helper following the fatal incident.

Road accidents are common in Pakistan due to poor road construction, lack of proper driving skills, badly maintained vehicles and routine disregard of traffic laws.
