Baku, Azerbaijan, April 24
By Elena Kosolapova - Trend:
The resignation of Kyrgyz Prime Minister Dzhoomart Otorbayev will not delay signing of the documents on Kyrgyzstan’s joining to the Eurasian Economic Union, Sputnik news agency reported with the reference to the press service of Kyrgyz Economy Ministry.
Kyrgyzstan plans to join to the Eurasian Union on May 9 after the completion of all internal ratification procedures.
Kyrgyzstan’s and Eurasian Economic Commission’s intention on Kyrgyzstan’s joining to the union remain in force, the ministry said.
"This intention is proved by the visit Economy Minister Temir Sariev to Moscow to attend the meeting of Eurasian Economic Commission committee to discuss some documents necessary for Kyrgyzstan’s joining to the Eurasian Economic Union", the press-service said.
Otorbayev made the decision on resignation on April 23 after presenting a report in the parliament on the government’s activity for 2014.
Kyrgyz government does not clarify who will sign the documents of Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the Eurasian Union if a new parliament is not formed until May 8.
On January 1, 2015 the treaty between the presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus authorizing the Eurasian Union went into effect. Armenia joined a day later, while Kyrgyzstan is set to join in May. Membership talks with Tajikistan are ongoing.
