By Umid Niayesh - Trend:

An official from Iran's Foreign Ministry rejected Saudi Arabia's allegations that accused Iran of providing money and arms to the Houthis in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the United States Adel al-Jubeir said Thursday that Iran is “part of the problem, not part of the solution.”

Responding to Jubeir's claims, an unnamed official from Iran's Foreign Ministry told IRNA on April 24, "those who stoke on Yemen and destroyed the country's infrastructures have been responsible for Yemen crisis”.

He charged Saudi Arabia of committing "genocide" in Yemen. According to IRNA, the Iranian official also demanded dispatching humanitarian aids to Yemeni people as soon as possible.

His statement came a day after Iran's Press TV reported that Saudi Arabia didn't allow an Iranian airplane to land in Sana'a, Yemen's capital, which is under the control of the local Shia group, Houthis.

Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies launched air strikes on the Houthi militia forces in Yemen March 25. The move triggered an oil shipping disruption through Bab el-Mandeb, a strait located between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula, and Djibouti and Eritrea in the Horn of Africa.

Saudi Arabia, leading an Arabian coalition against the Iranian-backed Shiite Houthis, announced April 21 that it ended the air strikes to seek a political solution in Yemen, but restarted the aerial bombardment a day later.
