Baku. Konul Kamilqizi – APA. Week-long magnetic storms are expected to begin throughout the globe tomorrow.
Namiq Jalilov, head of the Sun and Solar-Terrestrial Relationship Department at the Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory, said in a statement to APA the magnetic storms will not be that strong.
According to him, the power of magnetic storms usually varies from J1 to J9.
“The series of magnetic storms we are expecting to happen in the coming days will be J1-strong feeble storms.
The magnetic storm will be begin tomorrow and last till May 18 with intervals. The storms will eventually lose intensity and on May 17-18 the last will be observed. That will be the end of the magnetic storms. All of them were weak storms, unlikely to seriously affect people,” he said.
Jalilov added that the magnetic storms are the result of the flames that occurred in the sun a few days ago.
“Flames occurred at the middle of the solar disc. The flow of the departed plasma headed towards the Earth. Therefore, we are expecting magnetic storms to hit the Earth tomorrow,” he noted.
