Russia goalkeeper Evgeniia Golovina got her right arm on a shot by Paula Crespi Barriga (ESP) to make the save that gave Russia the gold medal in women's water polo on Saturday.
The teams were tied 10-10 after four periods of play and they traded goals back and forth through seven shooters a side in penalty shots before Daria Gerzanich (RUS) skipped a ball past goalkeeper Sandra Domene Perez (ESP) to give the Russians the edge on the scoreboard.
Golovina then sealed the gold with her shot.
Greece beat Italy 8-7 to win the bronze medal game.
