Iran has said that its defense line transcends the country’s physical geographical borders.
“We are able to detect the enemy from three thousand kilometers away, something objectified in our air defense system with domestically-developed radars and missiles,” stated Farszad Esmaili, commander of the Khatam ul-Anbiya Air Defense Base September 4.
Observations indicate that in recent wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Yemen most of the threats and the manner in which the wars have started focused on the use of fighters and long-range missiles, he pointed out.
“We give attention to the speed and diversity of the enemy’s aerial weapons and its intention to destroy the country’s infrastructure and national achievements,” he underlined.
“Therefore, the entire area of the target country can be a frontline.”
He also said that Iran’s aerospace is safe for civil planes to travel through.
“Today over 1,200 passenger planes move through the Iranian aerospace and we have succeeded in winning the title for the safest aerospace across Middle East amid sanctions and constant threat,” Esmaili further pointed out.
Under international restrictions, Iran has used domestic talents to improve its military power, frequently unveiling new products.
Iran recently indigenized the missile system Talash by removing the Russian S-200 missiles from it and replacing them with homemade Sayyad-3 missiles.
Iran has on record catching or destroying drones flying into its aerospace. Last year it destroyed a drone it claimed to have belonged to Israel. Before that it caught another drone that belonged to the US.
