By Fatih Karimov – Trend:

Breaching UN resolution 2231 will not re-impose sanctions on Iran.

Iranian MP Hossein Naqavi Hosseini quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi as saying that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached between Iran and the P5+1 group is an annexation of the resolution.

Breaching the JCPOA will lead to the re-imposition of sanctions against the country, but breaching the resolution will not, Iran’s IRNA news agency reported on September 6.

The resolution 2231 which was passed unanimously on July 20 by members of the UN Security Council endorses the nuclear deal reached between Iran and world powers.

Araqchi pointed out that lifting of the sanctions on the country’s military and missile programs was not a red line, because the country had attained great progress in this field and will not observe sanctions in this regard, Naqavi Hosseini said.

Araqchi said on August 10 that the resolution would not pose any real trouble for Iran, since Tehran’s missiles do not fall to the categories subject of the discussions of the resolution.

Araqchi also called on the parliament not to approve a law about the JCPOA, saying it would not meet Iran’s “national interests”.
