Azerbaijan improves position in energy sustainability ranking

Azerbaijan has improved its position by 16 points in the annual ranking of energy sustainability, calculated annually by the World Energy Council (WEC) and the consulting firm Olivier Wyman, said the message on the WEC website published Nov.13.

This year, in terms of energy sustainability, Azerbaijan took the 55^th place among 130 countries, while last year it took the 71^st place.

Rating of Azerbaijan was formed of the following factors: energy security – the 11^th place (compared to the 21^st last year), social equality in access to energy – the 67^th place (compared to the 57^th), the impact of energy on the environment – 74^th (99^th). In addition, political, economic and social indicators are taken into account when calculating the rating.

The World Energy Council is the largest energy international non-governmental organization, established in 1923 at the initiative of business and energy circles of Great Britain and a number of industrialized countries of Europe and North America.
