Initiating trips among ports of Caspian littoral countries to be discussed in Iran

A meeting of the heads of the ports of the Caspian-littoral countries, namely, Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan will be held in the Iranian port of Amirabad on November 17-18, Ali Khedmatgozar, the spokesman for the Amirabad Port of the Iranian Ports and Navigation Organization said, the Iranian news agency İRNA reported Nov. 13.

Khedmatgozar said that the issues of cooperation among the ports of the Caspian littoral countries will be discussed.

Simplifying of the cargo transportation rules, investments in the field of navigation and port infrastructure, economic cooperation and the exchange of scientific experience, as well as the effectiveness of the Caspian ports’ activity, increasing of the volumes of cargo transported by vessels along the transport corridors, repair and maintenance of ships and holding of joint training on the environmental protection will be also discussed.

He also said that the issue of initiating passenger trips among the ports of the Caspian Sea will be discussed at the meeting.
