British ALE has been awarded a major contract in Azerbaijan for the SOCAR Fertilisation Project as the two companies signed an agreement. This is the biggest contract the branch has won to date within the Caspian and Central Asian region, according to Heavy Lift News.
The scope involves the land transportation of over 40 out-of-gauge, super out-of-gauge and super heavy units to the fertilisation plant, as well as the provision of project management and engineering solutions.
ALE is providing the complete project management solution from shunting within offloading port through to the delivery to the site based in Sumgayit, 100km from the port in Baku. The project commenced in October 2015 and continues until the end of September 2016.
So far the heaviest unit of the project, weighing 367t, has already been transported to Sumgayit in November with many more currently on route.
ALE received the first shipment of components in October. The erection is expected to commence early January 2016 and complete in September 2016.
