Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 4

Trend:

Turkey-Azerbaijan unity and policy play a stabilizing role in the region, said Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev Dec. 3.

He made the remarks speaking to the media after a meeting in expanded format with Turkey’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who earlier arrived in Baku for an official trip.

Further addressing the event, President Aliyev greeted Davutoglu in Azerbaijan.

“I am very glad that you have made your first visit after the parliamentary election to the fraternal country – Azerbaijan,” he said, congratulating PM Davutoglu on the victory in the parliamentary election in Turkey.

President Aliyev also said that PM Davutoglu’s first official visit to Baku right after the parliamentary election demonstrates that the two countries’ ties stand at the highest level.

He further added that Turkey and Azerbaijan have always stood side by side on all the matters, and have supported each other.

“This is an unchangeable policy. This policy is based on both justice and our historical past,” noted the president. “We want that the future generations too kept these ties at a high level.”

“There are all the possibilities for this, because our political interests coincide,” he added.

President Aliyev said Azerbaijan wants there to be peace and tranquility in the region, no confrontations, and that all the peoples lived in peace and no one intervened in others’ internal affairs.

“Turkey-Azerbaijan unity and policy play a stabilizing role in the region,” he added. “Because, unfortunately, the stability in the region has been violated, and risks have emerged.”

“We have to stand ready to all these challenges and we do stand ready. Naturally, the stronger Turkey is, the more Azerbaijan’s strength will grow,” noted the president.
