Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed condolences in a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev over human losses in an accident at the Guneshli field, the presidential press-service said Dec. 6.
President Erdogan also expressed his condolences to the families and relatives of the victims.
President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the condolences.
The ignition started on Dec.4 at the platform No.10 of this field, where the Azerbaijani SOCAR company produces oil and gas through its own funds.
SOCAR said that the fire at the platform was caused by the windstorm, which damaged a gas line.
Some 32 people have been rescued, while 30 people are considered missing.
