By Khalid Kazimov - Trend:

The experts of the P5+1 group of the countries have held “intensive talks” with Iranian negotiators in Vienna aimed at drafting a resolution to settle Iran's PMD (possible military dimensions to Tehran’s nuclear program) file in the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Board of Governors, an Iranian negotiator said.

Hamid Baeedinejad, a senior member of Iranian negotiation team, has said that the P5+1 and Iran have kicked off the latest round of talks to discuss implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) since Dec. 3, the IRNA news agency reported.
He expressed hope that the outcome of the latest talks will contribute to the implementation of the JCPOA.

He predicted that the members of the P 5+1 will achieve consensus on the resolution, and the IAEA Board of Governors will give support for the resolution.

The IAEA Board of Governors is expected to approve the resolution to close Iran’s PMD file.

Earlier Iranian deputy foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi, urged the P5+1 to close the Islamic Republic’s nuclear dossier as the IAEA “confirmed” no military diversion in the country’s nuclear program.

Through a Dec. 2 report, the UN nuclear watchdog suggested although Iran took some limited steps towards developing a nuclear bomb, but the activities did not advance beyond feasibility and scientific studies.

Following the IAEA’s report, US announced its readiness to close PMD, however French Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal has urged for precise answers to the question concerning Iran’s work related to nuclear weapons.

The IAEA report was a condition of the July nuclear deal between Iran and the world powers.

If any members of Board of Governors of the IAEA including IAEA displeased with the IAEA report regarding PMD, the implementation of the July nuclear deal between Iran and world powers can be delayed.

According to the milestone deal, financial sanctions imposed by the West against Iran, its banking system and industry over Tehran’s nuclear program, are expected to be lifted in return for scaling down the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.

The IAEA has been given the role of verifying Iran’s commitments under the lasting nuclear deal.
