Iranian ICT Minister Mahmoud Vaezi has said Sweden is about to launch a trade office in Tehran as a bid to contribute to more powerful economic ties between the two countries.
After a meeting with Swedish Minister of Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg, Vaezi hoped that the Swedish officials’ visit opens a way for more robust cooperation between Tehran and Stockholm, IRIB news agency reported December 6.
Damberg is leading a delegation of several industrialists and businessmen to Iran to find ways for cooperation with the post-sanctions Iran.
The Swedish company Ericsson has been having relations with Iran for over 116 years and Swedish companies did not cut their ties with Iran under sanctions, which can provide good ground for their more comprehensive presence in the Iranian market, Vaezi added.
The Ericsson office in Iran has some 400 staff members and the company is a well-known brand among Iranians.
Swedish Ambassador to Tehran Peter Tiller back in June expressed happiness with growing trade volume between Iran and Sweden in recent years.
Iran’s export to Sweden is comprised mainly of saffron, fruit juice, carpet, and light industrial products, while Sweden’s export to Iran is mainly services.
